"Where can I go for help with a malpractice issue when I don't have 2 nickels to rub together?"?

My husband has ben in the hospital for over 4 weeks now. When he went in they found a strange instrument in his bowels. After describing it to me I talked to a nurse friend who thought it might be a tool used to remove polyps in the bowel. My husband had gone for a colonoscopy a few months ago. When I approached the doctor who removed the instrument he quickly changed his tune. It's now been 4 weeks. My husband was filled with Gang Green and was knocking on death's door. What can I do now? We have exhausted our resources and I am angry that this doctor is changing his tune.
