How to make a headband using sequins and elastic string?

I went to the craft store earlier today and they were out of sequin stretch material. The lady working suggested I buy elastic sewing thread and loose sequins. She said I could string them on 1 or 2 at a time, tying a little knot between, to make a headband. I'm now home however and realized I wanted the headband to be multiple rows of sequins. What would be the best way to go about creating this?
