In my opinion, the reason why America is so successful is mainly because our population is so diverse and our society is so open. The openness fosters almost unlimited creativity and the diversity permits us to look at problems from different angles thanks to cultural differences. We are also exposed to all these different views and the minds of those receptive to news ideas are expanded in ways which are impossible in closed societies. Because our people come from every country and every culture in the world we bring forth a common denominator which enables us to produce things that appeal to people all over the world. America has a little bit of everybody in her. Also the people who came here had to have the courage to leave everything they knew and held dear behind, we are a bold breed who have survived against the odds. This gives the Americans a can do attitude. I am a naturalized US citizen born and raised in Europe. The American can do attitude is really striking to me, I notice it almost constantly by contrast when I discuss problems with my European relatives. They are always telling me how this is impossible, or that is pointless or it is no use trying to change things, etc... I have discussed this with some other American people who are also intimately acquainted with Europeans and they to are too struck by the no can do attitude. I have on a couple of occasions helped my relatives with issues and taken the "impossibe" route. Every step of the way they were telling me how this wasn't going to work, or that person could not do such and such. I did it anyway and the problem was solved. I had to shake my relatives a little and push them to do one thing or the other. They probably think that I have become a little pushy and brusk but I am just used to getting things done anymore. When their poblem is solved, they are glad for it but they still hum and mumble about things. I believe that this is partly why people see Americans as pushy or bullies. We in general don't just sit around making mental lists of all the obstacles then mull about them.

I am 20 and I have ddd and secondry scoliosis, I have tried many pain killers that just don't work. The Butrans Patch is the only thing that helps with the pain. Then post it on the refrigerator, and make copies in case it "magically disappears" You are completely within your right to be upset about their slobbish behavior it really is immature of them. If they want ot be messy then they can do it in their room, but living/kitchen/dining rooms are a community area not their personal space and they should know automatically to keep it clean.

Noise from upstairs neighbor?

There was a book out years ago called something like "when the opposite of everything you believed is true". I think it depends on what we grew up around but most of what we learned is wrong....I believed death was a horrible thing & learned it was just our society...we will say "I am sorry" I had to make my own card for someone whose son died because the cards were all sympathy cards...I wrote something about knowing it is all in perfect divine right order...we all are going to die so why should we act like it is so shocking? I had a 20 year old son that died & it taught me more than most people will ever learn in their life time...I thought parents were supposed to die before their kids. That is such a harmful belief. I have another son & we are so close because I don't treat him as if he is going to outlive me. We appreicate each moment...I actaully have made a career at helping people to look at what they believe & see if they want to keep that belief or get rid of it & maybe replace it with a better belief. So I could write a book on all the garbage people carry around in their minds. ...So what would happen is they might resist change at first but after they see things getting better they would love it...I started out as a personal organizer. Then & I loved it. People at times became emotional when they had to get rid of something they held on to for a long time. Then I wanted to work at home so I started working just on the mind not the physical manifestations of the mind...It is such a rewarding experience....Cleaning the clutter out from the mind can be hard to do for a person on their own but it can be done. I help people by holding them accountable to get it done. I also help them through the emotions that come up but this shows they are really healing. If you are looking for long life, long term reliability and good resale value then a diesel inboard is the way to go. I own a 30 ft boat with twin mins 4BTA-250 diesel engines, my average fuel burn for the season is less then 7gph. I can cruise at 24 kts. Diesels are simpler to maintain and are much more reliable. Almost any yard can get you going and you don't need all the plug in diagnostic tools that the new outboards need. The inboards transmission is much stronger then an outboards. Yes outboards are faster, but to many negatives for me.

Can a small woman after 1-2 years of martial art practice fend off a big male ailant? I don't think so. Even with superior techniques, will she has the chin to take a lucky punch from a big guy? Questions about my tank?

I have a big 10 gallon tank, its got alot of oxygen, a 30 gallon filter on low current and a smaller filter with an air pump. I also have a heater that adjusts by its self but stays at about 78F all the time, anyways I have 3 Betta's, 2 male, 1 female. I was thinking putting the female in the newly set up tank (it has plenty of bacteria and everything) with some other live bearers. This is everything Im putting in: 1 female betta, 2 male guppies, 1 black molly,1 silver molly and 2 platys. I know theres enough room because I wont be breeding them. Do I need aquarium salt for it? I was wondering, would it be better if I put one of my male Betta's instead? And also would I need more fish to outnumber the mollies, because iv'e heard they like to go after the smaller fish. thanks

I have to do a project for spanish 1(espanol uno) and I need some help! Much needed opinions here please. what is wrong here?

If a guy ignores you, avoids eye contact and pretends your not in the room, stares at you blankly in a room full of people, ignores your contribution to a conversation and your standing right there but then helps you, cracks jokes nervously, tries not to smile/ laugh when you speak to him, helps you out and chats with you happily and when you leave is grinning from ear to ear, what does this mean? I really like this person and I know he can be shy (we are both adults) but I'm sooo confused:( Sometimes his emails are friendly and other times they are blunt and cold. I have seen one pup that sounded sort of like yours (he also had some perceptual problems... would walk into gl doors and once walked through deck railing and fell... did not seem to realize he was walking into empty space)... this pup had encephalitis, possibly acquired from a distemper vaccination. There are sometimes puppies born that just simply aren't "right"... sometimes they can go on to lead normal lives, sometimes they cannot.

I want to join the military however, two years ago I was arrested. I have never been arrested before. Although I was arrested and charged with the possession of Narcotics and tresping. I was not convicted. Newborn kitten will not nurse

My cat had 6 kittens and i have a 'runt' who is a lot smaller, and the only boy. They were born tuesday early hours of the morning. The boy struggled to nurse and now refused to nurse; he just gets pushed off by the others. I got kitten formula on advice and bottle etc and he had 3 or 4 hearty sucks on it, then it bubbled out his nose and he has no interest in it , he was nursing on mummycat if i helped him but now he has become weaker (i think) and doesnt show interest even if i show him the teat. I am concerned he will die but i cannot 'force' the milk in. The vet was unhelpful; she just said he needed feeding (obviously!) and that he looked otherwise good. Wasn't worth visiting the vet at all. So i thought i would look here for help. I recently attempted hand rearing a litter or prematures but it was useless they also couldnt suck and i watched them die one at a time; i really dont want anymore deaths this month! thanks

Plumbing set up help.?

Hope this helps. I am in the process of rebuilding my bathroom. there is no crawlspace under the house for maintence. So I am putting in a stem wall all the way around the room to put the plumbing inside of. Not only will the plumbing be in the house where it is warmer but it will also give me a 4 inch shelf to put things on. The drains is the only thing that will be under the house when i finish.

ok im 8 weeks pregnant..i started to bleed on aug 29th 2009 but it was really light so i didn't think much of it...then on sept 1st i went to the emergency room because i started bleeding heavily he gave me a pelvic exam and said i wasn;t dialating but my HCG level was only at 187 and it should have been more so he told me to rest and to come back on sept 4th to do retest but before that i was still bleedin heavily i used pad but it didnt bleed every hour...but when i went back on sept 4th to do the retest my HCG level dropped to 48 he told me i had or probably was miscarriaging and to see a obgyn but i applied for medicaid but my approve didnt come in yet so what should i do if i dont have money to go to the doctors? will they do an ultrasound and bill medicaid when i get it? i dont know what to do

Just so you know I'm fifteen and planning on publishing a book myself so I have nothing against you. I think its great that you're dreaming big and making a goal. About the story, I think its good. But you have to make her mother's dying wish very special. And make a good reason on why she would risk everything to find her father. Did he hold something that belonged to her? Or was it just the fact that she needed a guardian? And if that's the case, you need to make it plain that all her family is dead. Also, it would make it more interesting to have the fact that her mother died in The Plague. It would make it known of that dark era in history. Otherwise, it sounds like an interesting story plot. Just remember to add more back round about the characters, and more detail. Wish the best!

MRI and Stroke?

My mom had an MRI a little while ago. Then when the results came back they told her nothing but made her an appointment with the stroke clinic. She asked the doctor if there was something wrong and he said no then said yes but didn't give her any details he just told her to prepare to stay at the hospital. She does have cerbral palsy so she may have had a mini stroke and not even know because basically the whole right side of her body is slightly paralyzed anyway. I really hate myself.
