Well, it seems that you are dealing with displacement. So, the volume of the rock will be the total amount of water in the beaker, minus the original volume of the water gives you the rock's volume. For example, after you put the rock in and there was a total of 5mL, then the rock's volume is 2 mL. Hope this helps! :)
