Artemis fowl captain trouble kelp?

how the heck did this guy become such a big charector???? everywhere i look on comments and other answers and stuff, everyone always seems to talk about him... and say that he's a "cute little chipmunk" (fanfiction by some person, that wuz funny, they were comparing the charectors to animals) and a pretty big charector... can someone explain this???? last i checked (and i've only read #1, #2, #3. and #5... couldnt find the 4th or 6th 1 yet) he was only insulting his little brother and didnt seem to play a bigger part in the books.
