Question about what a thief can be charged with?

I had a bow and a chainsaw stolen from my house. There was no forced entry. When i called the sheriff's office, they sent a deputy out to my house. The deputy didn't look around or anything, he just took my report. Now if they catch the thieves, can they be charged with burglary even if there is no evidence other than possession of my property that they were at the scene of the crime or will they just be charged with receiving stolen property? The value of the property was approximately $1500
