U.K.-only answers, please: are baby showers, (a predominantly AMERICAN tradition), considered scally here?

Only, my sister had one when she had me nephew, and she's bangin' on about havin' another one when she has her next kid. She says it's fine to have a baby shower over here, but I say only scallies who have 'em in the U.K. What d'ya think, guys? Much obliged in advance! Peace and love, guys! Be lucky! :)
