Can you get hemp necklaces/bracelets wet?

A guy i really like made me a hemp necklace and a bracelet. I think i might make the bracelet tighter but it would be hard to take it off all the time. Can i shower with it on? Or would that ruin it? Also its well made so it shouldn't come undone.
